NEIL BIERBAUM ON COACHING AS THE ART OF COMMUNICATION

NEIL BIERBAUM ON COACHING AS THE ART OF COMMUNICATION

The core competence required to influence others is the 'Art of Conversation'. Today, the term ‘coaching’ is being used to encompass the conversations that people have in order to influence others and get things done. The most significant outcome of effective coaching is the refined ability to communicate with precision for maximum response.

The effectiveness of your communication is measured by the response you get. The more competent you are at the art of conversation, the more effective your communication will be and the more you will influence others.

This is true for face-to-face or over the phone, one-on-one or group communication or through a written medium; it is true for publicists, PRs and their clients, all of whom could benefit from gaining and applying this art.

Topics to be covered by this 40-minute talk include: The importance of the first 30 seconds, The human mind’s drive to be right, The power of questions and The five essential elements of a powerful presentation

Neil Bierbaum was the founding editor of South Africa’s phenomenally successful men’s magazine FHM. He left the magazine industry in 2002 to pursue his lifelong passion for empowering people to find the purpose and achieve their full potential. Neil does one-on-one coaching, conducts corporate seminars, is a keynote speaker and trains in the CCI Coaching Academy.

Neil’s areas of focus include leadership coaching (his client list includes Levi Strauss, SABC Airtime Sales and Marcus Brewster) and coaching for men who are going through midlife transition. Of the latter, he says, ‘It’s an opportunity, it doesn’t have to be a crisis!’
